What is Biological Dentistry?
Many people are unaware of how strongly oral health affects the rest of the body. Holistic dentistry—also called biological or integrative dentistry—focuses on the direct connection between oral health and systemic health, while aiming to treat the root causes of dental concerns, not just the symptoms.
Traditional dentistry often addresses visible problems such as cavities or gum disease in isolation. Holistic or biological dentistry considers how those conditions relate to inflammation, nutrition, airway health, the microbiome, immune response, and overall well-being. The result is care that supports not only a healthier smile, but a healthier body.
Your health. Your smile.
Whole-body care that works together.
At EWSC Biological Dentistry, we believe that true health comes from understanding how all parts of a system are connected. Our biologically integrative approach recognizes that each element—body, soul, and spirit—is deeply intertwined, and can only be fully appreciated in relation to the whole. For our patients, this means that not only do we take care of the symptoms, but we care for the complete person.
Oral health is not separate from overall health. Chewing, speaking, breathing, posture, sleep, nutrition, and the nervous system all interact, and the mouth can reveal what is happening throughout the body and the body will be on the receiving end of any mouth infections. That’s why our approach focuses on caring for your whole body, not just your teeth.
Dr. Lydia Baird provides gentle, natural, low-toxin dental care every day. Our team is committed to actively listen as we explore your health history, your goals, and your past experiences together to create care that supports your long-term healing process. Our holistic approach considers how your mouth, airway, microbiome, and nervous system communicate and influence one another, ensuring that every treatment aligns with your overall health.
From safe mercury removal following IAOMT principles, and biocompatible materials to ozone therapy and advanced laser treatments, every choice we make is designed to promote balance, comfort, and long-term wellness. In our biological dental office, visiting the dentist is more than an appointment—it’s an experience that can feel calm, clear, and even a little peaceful.
Services Rooted in Whole-Person Health
Our holistic and biological services may include:
Mercury-free dentistry and safe mercury removal following IAOMT principles (certification in progress)
BPA-free, ceramic-based composites and zirconia crowns and bridgework
Natural remineralization care
Periodontal therapies, including Perio Protect
Biocompatibility testing
Ozone disinfection therapy
Laser therapy
IV Vitamin C therapy in collaboration with medical providers
TMJ and bite therapy guided by Dawson Academy principles
Snoring and sleep apnea therapy

Our team also incorporates cardiovascular-oral health principles informed by Bale-Doneen preceptorship training, recognizing the strong link between gum disease, inflammation, and systemic conditions.
Sidenote: You may notice that we have not mentioned cosmetic dentistry. Esthetics always follows function. Cosmetic dentistry is never about appearance alone—it is built on stable bite, healthy tissues, and proper function first.

ABOUT
Our Dental Philosophy & Foundation of Care

Our Foundation of Care
To bring this philosophy to life, we focus on five key pillars for patients of all ages (0–100):
Airway Health
Supporting breathing, sleep, snoring, and sleep apnea, including laser frenectomies when appropriate, to optimize overall wellness.
Diet & Dental Nutrition
Providing education and guidance to strengthen teeth, support remineralization, and promote systemic health.
Microbiome Balance
Understanding oral bacteria and inflammation through tools like saliva testing (e.g., MyPerioPath) when needed.
Homecare Education
Personalized routines that work with your body, not against it, making daily care effective and sustainable.
Whole-Body Integration
Ensuring every treatment aligns with your overall health, viewing oral care as part of your body’s natural balance and healing process.

By combining Prevention, Peace, and Precision with these foundational pillars, we provide care that prevents disease, restores balance, and supports long-term wellness, creating a dental experience that is safe, effective, and truly holistic.
